About

Pursuing Justice is Bend the Arc’s national convening of a multi-racial, multi-ethnic Jewish social justice movement dedicated to building a more progressive democracy.

In 2016, Bend the Arc’s first national conference brought together and catalyzed a nationwide community of Jews rooted in our values and fighting against the rise of racism, xenophobia, and hate. Four years later, our power as a movement has grown and will continue to bloom in the lead up to the 2020 election and beyond.

Pursuing Justice 2020, taking place May 3-5, 2020, will bring together 1,000 activists and organizers for three days of learning, connecting, and taking action. If you are ready to be part of a powerful community informed by the long Jewish legacy of pursuing racial and economic justice, we want you to join us.

Speakers from Pursuing Justice 2016

In 2016, more than 600 people came together for Bend the Arc’s first-ever national conference. The event featured more than 90 speakers, including current Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi, Valerie Jarrett, former Rep. Keith Ellison, Bryan Stevenson, and many more. Together, we catalyzed the power of our progressive Jewish movement, built new relationships, and launched “We’ve Seen This Before,” the largest national Jewish campaign to stop the election of Donald Trump.

What to Expect at Pursuing Justice

More than 1,000 Jewish activists and allies are expected to join. Pursuing Justice welcomes people of all ages, races, ethnicities, classes, occupations, sexual orientations, gender identities, abilities, faiths, and Jewish denominations. Attendees approach this work from a variety of disciplines: some are academics, nonprofit professionals, philanthropists, public servants, community organizers, or individual activists working to mobilize their community. Our community shares a commitment to intersectional racial and economic justice.

Pursuing Justice 2020 will have sessions and workshops designed to help all attendees engage with the current political landscape, strategic opportunities in 2020 and beyond, and a vision for a more progressive future. For three days you’ll be part of a Jewish political home and a vibrant and inclusive community, and you’ll leave prepared to continue the work back home.

Among much more, the conference experience will include:

  • Opportunities to connect, network, and strategize with other leaders and activists who are doing similar work
  • Hands-on trainings in organizing, campaigning, and advocacy from activists and leaders around the country
  • Expert analysis of the current political landscape and how to approach the 2020 elections
  • Professional development sessions to connect organizations’ work to movement priorities
  • And a chance to experience the vision for this movement from leaders working on the front lines of intersectional justice

Bend the Arc is committed to making Pursuing Justice 2020 as accessible to as many people as possible. We know that conferences can be cost-prohibitive and exacerbate issues of economic inequality. Registration is available on a self-determined sliding scale in order to make the convening as accessible as possible for our greater community. Registration includes two full and one half days of programming, as well as breakfast, lunch, and refreshments on all days. You can learn more about the registration scale here.

Discounted hotel room rates are available for $269/per night and you can book directly here. There is additional registration, travel and accommodation support available. Please email registrar@bendthearc.us for more information.
